THE FORBES FUNDS awards grants to help nonprofits build their management capacity to so they can ultimately more effectively deliver on their mission.
The most effective organizations build and sustain their capacity for achieving their objectives through good governance, effective management, and regular evaluation and adaptation. Building organizational capacity can be the difference between an organization that merely survives and one that thrives. The Forbes Funds provides nonprofits in Allegheny County with the technical assistance and grants to better understand and address their organizational capacity needs and build high-performing organizations.
Our grantmaking activities fall into three categories: Management Assistance Grants (MAG’s), which are designed to strengthen the management capacity of individual nonprofits, Cohort Grants, which are designed to support a group of nonprofits that share the same challenges, and special initiatives like the Innovation Fund that are created as needed to address particular needs of the nonprofit sector.
