
Below are some frequently asked questions about the Criteria for Management Excellence (CME) and the assessment process. We are currently in the pilot phase. More frequently asked questions will be added to this page as the process develops. The CME assessment process will be made more widely available in mid-March. | Will The Forbes Funds share information from my organizational assessment with other funders? |

No, all information will be kept confidential. The Forbes Funds will merge the information from your organization’s assessment with that of all of the other organizations who participate in the process in order to look at trends in the nonprofit sector. Any information shared with the public will be shown in aggregate and the names of the participating organizations will not be identified. |
| Is grant funding from The Forbes Funds dependent on how well our organization scores on the CME assessment process? |

No, the assessment is designed to provide clarity on what capacity building project should be funded. Decisions about whether or not to fund an organization will not be made based on the assessment scores. |
| Why do you want our board to participate? |

To get a full picture of your organization, it is important to gather multiple perceptive, including your board of directors. Their role is to help govern and advise your organization. |
| Do all of our staff and executive management have to participate in the assessment process? |

In order to have a complete picture of your organization and to generate reports based on the responses, each group who participates in the process (staff, executive management and board) needs to achieve at least an 80% participation rate. |
| What is the difference between staff and executive management? |

In the CME assessment process we want to look at different perspectives on your organization, so we ask that you group all of your organization’s paid employees into two groups: staff and executive management. Staff are paid members of the organization employed to carry out various functions as front-line staff, administrative staff, supervisors, and mid-level managers. Executive management are paid members of an organization with executive functions which could include, but are not limited to Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Program Officer. |
