Community Threads
In the past, The Forbes Funds published Community Threads bi-annually as its way of celebrating the contributions of the nonprofit sector in the Southwest Pennsylvania region. Intended for use by a broad range of nonprofit executives, community leaders and public officials, it is a practical, information-rich management tool that:
- highlights community assets, resources and issues in Greater Pittsburgh by synthesizing research and data on community topics
- provides tools and examples for nonprofit practitioners, board members and civic leaders
- inspires current and prospective community leadership within the social sector of Greater Pittsburgh
- promotes civic engagement, dialogue and action across generations and across sectors of the Pittsburgh community
The stories presented in Community Threads are intentionally anecdotal, not statistical. They are stories about people who have made a commitment to excellence. They are also about the lessons these individuals and organizations have learned. We hope you will be inspired by their stories, be informed by the resources and become better acquainted with local nonprofits.
